Fashion Tips➡Corporate Monday

As The saying goes...Dress the way you want to be addressed....
So these are the advisable corporate ways to dress This Sunny Monday

HOW TO DRESS FOR THE
CORPORATE WORLD AND STILL
LOOK CHIC

THE PROFESSIONALS: Andrea Olshan, 33, CEO of
commercial real estate firm MPI, whose properties
include Hiltons; JoBeth Tananbaum, 29, a VP of
business development at commercial finance firm
Capital Business Credit, where she oversees the NYC
Fashion Production Fund, which benefits up-and-
coming designers.

THE UNIFORM: "My job is definitely very, very
corporate," says Tananbaum, who relies on pantsuits
and conservative knee-length skirts for nine-to-five.
"If I look too wild in the office, the people around me
won't believe that I'm taking the business component
of my job seriously." Ditto for Olshan: "Until recently,
none of my male coworkers even dared to take their
jackets off," she says.

THE FIXER: Friend Claire Distenfeld, who treated
Olshan and Tananbaum to the inventory of her luxe
Upper East Side boutique, Fivestory, which boasts
fashion-forward labels such as Preen, Alexander
McQueen, and Rick Owens. (The ladies also had an
assist from ELLE editors.) "Dressing for a corporate
environment is tough for women. That's probably
one of the biggest problems my customers have," says
Distenfeld, "but you can find ways to do it chicly,
definitely. There's no excuse."
THE FINISHING TOUCHES: Statement necklaces; gold
cuffs and pumps in animal skins. "Accessorizing is a
real issue for me," says Tananbaum. "I would love to
wear bright platforms, but when you're sitting
looking at spreadsheets, accessories like that seem
unnecessary, and even get in the way."
THE REACTION: "The coatdress is the most realistic
option," Tananbaum says. "It's put-together and
could be worn with a button-down during the day, or
with nothing underneath for drinks." Olshan,
meanwhile, a mother of three kids less than age two
and a half, found practical value in the jewelry.
"Extra-bold pieces keep my stable of work wear
exciting," she says. "That way, I can spend less time
in a store and more time with my kids."
